Jean-François Millithaler

Jean-François Millithaler is a Lecturer in Electrical and Computer Engineering. After earning his Ph.D. in Electronics from University of Montpellier, France, he worked in several laboratories in France, Spain and Italy as Research Engineer. His work is devoted to the study of semiconductor nanodevices in different fields such as Terahertz generation, Bio-electronics and Solar Cells. He joined UMASS Lowell in 2015 to work on a semiconductor transistor for logic and high frequency purposes.

The development of ultra-fast operating electronic devices is not directly related to climate or renewable energy but it tends to improve the final results. Faster and efficient new kind of processor would not only allow the transfer of huge amount of data, which is increasing everyday, but would also reduce the power consumption of computing systems, leading to better sustainability and a reduction of greenhouse gases.
